In this report, the attenuation of shock waves upon passing through vented plates is analyzed using simple one-dimensional flow models. Inviscid, nonconducting ideal diatomic gas is assumed. Transmission of shock waves through single plates and through arrays of several plates in series is considered. Models are compared with each other and with experiment. One model is found to be easier to use and less time-consuming, and, simultaneously, agrees best with the experimental results over a wide range of conditions.
